"I love the decorative nature of both interior scenes and landscapes. They allow me to take mundane objects out of context in order to create something beautiful that can make somebody smile. I often use pattern-making or alternative perspectives to draw the eye into the centre of the image and let it dart around playfully, being attracted by something different at every glance.

 

"Multiple motifs are peppered throughout my work: highly stylised furniture; a picture within a picture; a torso – fragmented parts that on their own don’t necessarily make sense, carefully placed to create a balanced whole.

"It is no secret that my landscapes are indebted to Hockney, inspired by the same warm, bright colours of California. While I will always keep that Fauvist humour of colour, the move back to my native Ireland has endowed my palette with rustic tones, more akin to my surrounding countryside."
